Michael Owen believes Leeds are most vulnerable after latest relegation twist
Michael Owen believes Leeds United are now “the most vulnerable” in the Premier League relegation battle after their defeat to Arsenal.
Leeds’ misery was compounded by Everton’s victory at Leicester.
The result at the King Power Stadium means that Leeds are now below the dreaded dotted line.
“Wow – Everton have dug deep when they needed it most,” said Owen via his personal Twitter account on Sunday (8 May).
“Huge result. And their fixtures look favourable.
“It’s Leeds who now look the most vulnerable.”
This weekend has been far from ideal for Jesse Marsch’s side.
Arsenal was always going to be a tough task, but Everton’s win and Luke Ayling’s senseless red card compounded a bad day for Leeds.
Leeds simply need to get something against Chelsea in their next fixture at Elland Road
With the form Everton are in they cannot rely upon other sides slipping up.
As for Ayling, he has let his side down at a vital moment in Leeds’ recent history.
The defender has been part of the fabric at Elland Road since 2016 and has experienced his fair shares of ups and downs.
Marsch’s side needed experience, they needed Ayling at the heart of this relegation battle.
His rash tackle has put his side in even more trouble.
At a time when Leeds need to keep their heads, they’ve lose them.
Raphinha’s reaction to the referee was the epitome of everything that went wrong for Leeds this weekend.
If Everton pick up another win in their game in hand then it is very much getting to last-chance saloon for March’s side.
In other Leeds United news, this star player will quit Elland Road in the summer no matter what.
