Michael Dawson can’t believe what he saw Joe Rodon do in Leeds United win v Middlesbrough

Michael Dawson couldn’t believe what he saw Leeds United star Joe Rodon do during the 3-2 win over Middlesbrough while live on Sky Sports.

The pundit was live on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (2 December, 16:39) covering the Whites’ win at Elland Road when ten-man Boro came close to equalising.

But Rodon intervened with a brilliant block which Dawson labelled “unbelievable”, and ultimately helped the team hold on for all three points.

“It’s Isaiah Jones whose been brilliant, he’s gone to right-back since the red card and he just drives at the Leeds defenders,” he said.

“I’m not too sure how, it’s too easy for them. He plays a ball just outside the box to Sam Silvera, who fizzes the ball across the box and it takes the slightest deflection up over Meslier, hits the post, comes back out to Morgan Rogers.

“This tackle, well it’s saved a goal by Joe Rodon. Absolutely sensational, otherwise it’s 3-3. Unbelievable Joe Rodon.”

Outstanding

The summer transfer window at Elland road was a really crazy time, but looking back at it now most Leeds fans would probably take this squad over the one we had at the start of the summer.

A lot of players left the club, but the ones that Daniel Farke brought in have all performed admirably. But arguably none have been better than Rodon.

The Welsh defender has established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet under the manager, and alongside Joel Piroe and Ethan Ampadu has been a real revelation.

No wonder there has been talk of a potential £20m deal to make his loan permanent because he’s quite clearly a Premier League player who is playing at a level down right now.

Our gain is Tottenham’s loss, and this moment in the game is just another example of how good he has been for us and how important he is to our charge for promotion. What a player.

In other Leeds news, Tottenham could look to sign Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United in January.
