Micah Richards hails 'on fire' Rodrigo after Leeds United hammer Chelsea

Leeds United forward Rodrigo was praised by Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards after his fantastic performance against Chelsea on 21 August.

The Spaniard was unplayable against the Blues, scoring a goal and providing an assist in the 3-0 victory over Thomas Tuchel’s team at Elland Road.

Many Leeds players deserved praise however it was Rodrigo that Richards decided to single out, claiming the Spaniard is now playing with supreme confidence. [Sky Sports]

Speaking on Super Sunday on 21 August at 15:55, Richards said: “Four in three now for him and he is absolutely on fire.

“He feels like a man that is playing with confidence.

“Once Raphinha goes, you are looking for someone to step up to the plate and he really has.

“It wasn’t just his goal or assist today, but his whole game and workrate were absolutely brilliant.”

Rodrigo has arrived.

The Spaniard has not had the easiest of times since joining the club in 2020, but with this start to the season seems to be putting his past behind him.

The 31-year-old looks like a man transformed, pressing with more intensity, getting involved in more attacks, and finishing clinically.

He started the season playing in an attacking midfield role, playing behind Patrick Bamford, and in between Jack Harrison and Brenden Aaronson.

In this role he excelled, being able to get involved in linkup p[lay while also being able to make late runs into the box and finish off chances.

However, against Chelsea, in Bamford’s absence, he led the line and did so brilliantly leaving the game with another goal – his fourth of the season – to show for it.

Richards is spot on when he described Rodrigo as “on fire” and if he can maintain this red hot form, Leeds will forget about Raphinha very son.

In other Leeds news, Don Goodman was baffled by Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy’s mistake.
