Matt Holland reacts to major first half incident in West Ham v Leeds United

Leeds United took a deserved lead at the break with Jack Harrison scoring the opening goal.

The Whites made a bright start in the game and took the lead inside 10 minutes, and got the deserved 1-0 lead at the London Stadium.

TalkSPORT pundit Matt Holland, while commentating the game for Premier League Tv productions, has praised Harrison for the goal.

He said: “West Ham fans can’t argue that. Leeds have been quicker, sharper. Got their reward with a bright start. Good save initially from Fabianski, kept it alive. Harrison made no mistake, guides it into the far corner. Bright start rewarded.”

Bright start

What a start made by Leeds!

Patrick Bamford missed once again but Marcelo Bielsa’s side started with a bang.

As usual, the pressing was high, with forwards Dan James and Raphinha creating some good chances.

Junior Firpo also looked lively in the opening 45 minutes while Adam Forshaw was top-quality once again.

West Ham responded well but Leeds defence were equal to the task.

The long ball pass to Raphinha was excellent and the Brazilian showed great composure inside the box to tee up Harrison.

Fabianski made a good stop but Harrison took the shot brilliantly to give the visitors a slender lead.

The big blow, however, has come with Forshaw picking up a hamstring injury.

Leeds fans will hope that it’s not serious.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are ready to make a bid for this £8million-rated central midfielder from an in-form English side.
