Mateusz Klich reacts to Leeds United fan footage after loss v Aston Villa
Mateusz Klich may have left Leeds United this week, but he’s still a big fan favourite as the fans showed at Villa Park on Friday night.
The Whites travelled to Birmingham to face Unai Emery’s side and fell to a 2-1 defeat despite being the better side throughout the game.
But prior to kick-off ex-midfielder Klich shared footage of Whites fans on the concourse singing his song to his Instagram story (January 13), showing that he still cares about the club despite moving on for his own career.
The word legend certainly gets banded about far too easily these days in football, but it’s hard to argue that Klichy isn’t one at Elland Road.
The Poland international was a key figure for Marcelo Bielsa when we got promoted back to the Premier League after so long away, and then was key in helping us finish in mid-table in our first season back.
Then when Jesse Marsch came in he lost his place as a regular starter, but still gave everything to help us avoid relegation last season and then stayed again in the summer.
Fans will always remember his contribution, and the fact he was the most used player at the club in Bielsa’s time here and during his time under Marsch tells you everything about how good he was.
He won’t be forgotten here any time soon, and hopefully he can shine in the MLS before retiring in the sunshine and returning to Elland Road as a fan one day.
