Mateo Joseph flops in 4/10, Aaronson MOTM – Leeds United player ratings v Derby
Leeds United came out on top against Derby County with a 1-0 win at Pride Park.
Daniel Farke made four changes to his starting line-up with Mateo Joseph, Ao Tanaka, Largue Ramazani and Willy Gnoto all chosen to come into the team.
A strong first half for the Whites saw them on top throughout the opening period although Farke’s side were unable to break through and it remained 0-0 at the break.
Both sides were up for the occasion and continued pushing in the second half but it was Leeds who came out on top with a win to return to the top of the Championship thanks to Brenden Aaronson’s fine winner.
Here, MOT Leeds News has rated each player out of 10.
Ilian Meslier – 6
The goalkeeper didn’t have too much to do against Derby with the home side having just one shot on target in the game.
Jayden Bogle – 6
It wasn’t a game where Bogle had the most to do and therefore, he struggled to shine throughout the 90 minutes.
Sam Byram – 7
Byram got stuck into the game throughout and put in the effort to help his side’s attacking efforts as well as doing what was expected of him at the other end of the field.

Joe Rodon – 5
Another defender with little to do throughout the game and solid when called upon but not his game to shine in.
Pascal Struijk – 6
Struijk continued to be reliable for his side today which has made him popular with the Leeds supporters this season but it wasn’t his best performance either.
Leeds United win after Aaronson heroics
Ao Tanaka – 7 (off for Joshua Guilavogui 91′)
Coming back into Farke’s side against Derby, Tanaka continued to show the level he has this season which has made him a firm fan’s favourite at Elland Road.
Ethan Ampadu – 6
A leader in the side who, as always, provided a solid performance for Farke who he never lets down. However, he didn’t do as much as he could have done in the 90 minutes.
Largie Ramazani – 5 (off for Manor Solomon 72′)
Coming into the side today Ramazani didn’t deliver a performance to remember and was rather ineffective until he was pulled off by Solomon who upstaged him.
Willy Gnonto – 7 (off for Daniel James 71′)
Gnonto was impressive today and looked good going forward although he was not the man the make the difference in the end.
Brenden Aaronson – 8 (off for Patrick Bamford 88′)
A very strong performance from Aaronson who scored the goal that proved to be the difference and gain the Whites all three points. A neat finish.
Mateo Joseph – 4 (off for Joel Piroe 72′)
Joseph failed to show why he should be the preferred striker for Farke this season and continued his disappointing form as he struggled to get into the game and was eventually pulled off for Piroe.
Substitutions
Daniel James – 7 (on for Willy Gnoto 71′)
James did well and provided impact from the bench which is exactly what you want from your substitutions. He nearly broke the deadlock but had a good shot well saved in the second half.

Joel Piroe – 5 (on for Mateo Joseph 72′)
The striker proved to be slightly better than Joseph but still failed to do anything really once he was brought on.
Manor Solomon – 7 (on for Largie Ramazani 72′)
Solomon was another substitution who made a good impact in Farke’s sided with a lovely move to set up the goal that gained his side the victory.
Patrick Bamford – N/A (on for Brendan Aaronson 88′)
Joshua Guilavogui – N/A (on for Ao Tanaka 91′)
In other Leeds news, the Whites are looking to sign a £16 million attacker from a Championship promotion rival according to the player’s entourage.
