Lucas Perri called out in Leeds vs Manchester United – ‘Embarrassing’

Leeds United secured another crucial point in the Premier League as they drew 1-1 with rivals Manchester United at Elland Road.

Brenden Aaronson slotted home the opener just past the hour mark, but Man United hit back through Matheus Cunha three minutes later.

Lucas Perri didn’t cover himself in glory as Cunha poked Ruben Amorim’s side level, failing to close the angle properly as the former Wolves man drove towards goal.

It wasn’t the only error Perri made in the game either, with the Leeds keeper very nearly costing his side in the first half.

Lucas Perri handed huge let-off by Man United

Moments before half-time, Perri kicked the ball straight out of play under no pressure at all, handing possession back to Man United.

Speaking live on beIN Sports, former Leeds defender Jim Beglin criticised the Brazilian for his lack of accuracy.

Beglin said: “He (Perri) has made a meal of that, that’s embarrassing.”

Perri’s error allowed Man United to launch one more attack before the break, and Patrick Dorgu almost made the Leeds shot-stopper pay for his mistake.

Dorgu drove towards goal, exchanging passes with Cunha, before curling a shot wide of the left-hand post from a promising position.

Daniel Farke will be raging at Perri’s error

Farke highlighted Perri’s poor distribution at the start of December, insisting that the 28-year-old had to improve with the ball at his feet.

However, it’s clear this is still an issue for the Leeds keeper, despite his manager’s comments earlier in the season.

There’s no doubting that Perri is a more than competent shot-stopper at Premier League level, and he often bails out Farke’s side with sharp saves.

If the former Lyon man doesn’t improve in possession, though, he will eventually be punished, and it could cost the Whites crucial points in their fight to avoid relegation.
