‘Loves defending’ – LUTV pundit awestruck by ‘Superb’ Leeds U23s player v Palace
Ben Parker has heaped praise on Leeds United defender Cody Drameh for his performance in the under-23s win against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The LUTV pundit has been impressed with how the full-back has settled in West Yorkshire, since arriving from Fulham in the summer.
Drameh scored his first goal for the club to set the Whites on their way to a 4-1 win at Thorp Arch, with his goalbound cross taking a deflection.
Parker admitted that Drameh’s love for defending sets him apart from the rest, claiming that he is near-impossible to dribble past.
“I’ve said it a number of times in the games this season, but the big thing I love about him, he loves to defend,” he said during live coverage.
“You see so many young players now, it’s the modern game. You need your full-backs, your defenders to be comfortable on the ball going forward, overlapping all the time.
“He loves defending, 1v1 – he’s so solid, so difficult to get past. Sometimes a new player can take a while to settle in, but he’s settled in really well – superb.”
Drameh certainly was impressive against Palace and appeared to be everywhere in the win at Thorp Arch.
Palace’s best player was Kian Flanagan with ease, and he proved that with his incredible long-range consolation goal. Whenever he drifted to his left-hand side, there was Drameh to blunt his threat.
Despite his clear love for defending, he always gets forward too – something Marcelo Bielsa will be looking for from his youngsters.
Bryce Hosannah, who is currently at Bradford on loan, will certainly be watching the progression of Drameh with nerves over his spot past this season.
