Liam Cooper suffers knock ahead of Leeds v Tottenham

Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed Liam Cooper will miss Leeds United versus Tottenham on Saturday due to a knock.

Speaking to BT Sport ahead of the match, Bielsa revealed that Cooper, 29, had suffered a slight knock in the gluteus.

LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross detailed Bielsa’s update on his personal Twitter account ahead of kick-off at Elland Road this weekend.

Hopefully not serious

With Bielsa saying it’s just a knock then it shouldn’t mean that Cooper will miss many matches, if any more, between now and the end of the season.

It was a bit of a shock that he wasn’t named in the squad to play Spurs because nothing had been said about an injury or knock ahead of the game.

The Scotland centre-back has missed the last three fixtures due to suspension and was widely expected to return as he’s the club captain and the defence didn’t really impress at Brighton last week.

However, this update explains things and we wish Coops well in his bid to return in time to play against Burnley at Turf Moor next week.

Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Pascal Struijk need to put in better performances this weekend because Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Gareth Bale are bound to provide a massive test for them.

More of a test than Danny Welbeck, anyway.
