Lewis Jones predicts Leeds victory over Brighton

Sky Sports pundit Lewis Jones has said that Brighton are ‘hot favourites’ against Leeds United but has predicted the Whites to run away with the three points.

If the Premier League table was to be counted on expected points, Brighton would be in fifth place – with 21 points more to their total [Understat].

Leeds, on the other hand, would exactly where they are in 10th, with four points fewer than the 47 they have now.

Brighton’s poor finishing coupled with their goals conceded from low-probability areas has led to them being in 17th place, and Jones refers to those numbers while making a 2-1 prediction against the Seagulls.

In his column on Sky Sports, he wrote, “Brighton’s wretched home form makes little sense when analysing their numbers. They’ve won just one of their last 18 Premier League home games.

“Graham Potter’s men are hot favourites for this one which is easily swerved. Leeds have managed to avoid defeat to Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City in recent weeks.

“That alone makes it an away win to consider in what is Marcelo Bielsa’s 136th game as Leeds manager – the most games he has managed at any one club in his managerial career.”

WE start as favourites

While we understand the point Jones is making, the fact of the matter is that one team are in red hot form, chasing possible European places, while the other side is 17th, not yet assured of safety.

To add to that, we’ve been an all-round team in the last few weeks and not just an open and attacking side like we were for the majority of the campaign.

That could do with the fact that we’ve got all of our centre-backs available and even midfield our first-choice options have been delivering whatever Bielsa has asked from them.

However, for this one, we’ll be without the services of Liam Cooper who’s serving a suspension for his red against Man City, while Raphinha is also ruled out.

Helder Costa and Rodrigo are only slight doubts, but are still in contention to make the matchday squad.

That being said, this a game that the Whites can expect to win and put an end to our recent run of draws.
