Lewis Jones predicts Leeds clash v Southampton

Lewis Jones has backed Leeds United to leave Southampton with a point on Saturday afternoon at St Mary’s.

The Sky Sports expert has predicted that it will finish 1-1 on the south coast, as the Whites return after the international break.

Leeds will be looking to build on their first win of the season last time out, something Southampton have yet to achieve themselves.

Writing in his Sky Sports prediction column, Jones insisted that both sides have “major problems” ahead of the clash.

“Southampton have major problems in front of goal having not scored from open play since August 28 while Leeds look set to be missing their two most attacking weapons in Patrick Bamford and Raphinha,” he said.

“When it comes to an outright prediction, it’s hard to separate them. When that is the case, play the draw.

Talking points.

The biggest of them all is whether or not Raphinha will be available for selection in a few hours time.

Having shined for Brazil and returned home since the international break, will Bielsa deem the winger fit enough to make an impact less than 48 hours after his match-winning display against Uruguay.

As well as that, Kalvin Phillips was given a good chance of recovering from his injury and that would be huge.

Leeds don’t usually do well when missing the Yorkshire Pirlo, so his inclusion could be deemed even more important than Raphinha.

We always want three points in each game we play, but drawing your away clashes and picking up wins at home will take you far so it wouldn’t be the worst result.
