Leo Hjelde likely to start for Leeds United v West Ham

Leeds United defender Leo Hjelde could be handed a start against West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday, according to Yorkshire Evening Post.

The report claims that Robin Koch is likely to vacate midfield for Adam Forshaw and revert to a centre-back position.

With Liam Cooper injured and Diego Llorente suspended, Marcelo Bielsa could hand the 18-year-old his Premier League debut this weekend.

Big moment

Hjelde’s inclusion in the cup defeat against the Hammers raised a few eyebrows.

He was not thought to have been near the first-team picture, but Bielsa obviously trusted him and named him in his eleven.

The teenager certainly did not disappoint and put in an impressive display on his Leeds debut.

Now, he’s likely to have another chance to prove his worth and could be named in the Premier League eleven for the first time in his career.

While the injuries and list of absentees have bumped him up the pecking order, he has a very good opportunity to show why he deserves to be where he is on merit.

Bielsa is someone who judges players solely on the basis of their performances and if he has another good game, the Argentine may think twice before dropping him once Llorente is back.

It remains to be seen how this one transpires and we cannot wait to see Hjelde in action again.

We’re hoping that he has another good performance and that the Leeds team collectively put up a more valiant effort than the one they did last weekend.
