Leeds United v West Brom: Major Harry Gray update emerges

Leeds United take on West Brom and a major training and selection update has emerged on youngster Harry Gray ahead of the game at Elland Road.

Pictures emerged from first-team training earlier this week and the 16-year-old striker was spotted with the senior players.

Harry, the younger brother of Archie Gray, has even been doing well for the Under-21s, scoring a brace against Derby County in February.

Daniel Farke unlikely to have Harry Gray in his matchday squad against West Brom

Yorkshire Evening Post’s Joe Donnohue admitted that the teenager is making all the right noises at Thorp Arch.

However, on his X account, the journalist wrote that he’s not likely to be named in the matchday squad this soon.

Daniel Farke is not one to grant debuts just for the sake of it, but he could look to rotate his side once promotion has been achieved.

The German may also turn to Gray if the senior attackers like Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph are unavailable due to injury.

However, against the Baggies on 1 March, that’s not expected to be the case.

Leeds United fans will be thrilled to see Harry Gray’s senior debut

Leeds fans have every reason to be thrilled about Gray’s potential debut in the 2024/25 season.

At just 16, the young striker carries the weight of a storied family legacy – his brother Archie, father Andy, grandfather Frank and great-uncle Eddie all donned the Leeds shirt, embedding the Gray name deep in the club’s history.

Harry’s pre-season cameo against Harrogate Town in 2024 already sparked chants from the Elland Road faithful, a testament to their eagerness to see another homegrown talent rise.

Despite a setback from an injury that sidelined him for a number of months, his recent return has been electric, earning an England Under-17 call-up.

This rapid progress hints at a potential that could surpass even Archie, now at Tottenham, who once predicted Harry might outshine him.

For a fanbase passionate about their academy and hungry for success in the Championship, Harry represents hope, continuity and the promise of a new star.

His debut this season, even if gradual under Farke’s cautious approach, will ignite excitement as supporters envision a future where another Gray leads Leeds back to glory.
