Leeds v Sheffield Wednesday: Peter Lowy bizarre moment shared at empty Elland Road
Leeds United board member Peter Lowry celebrated in front of the empty Elland Road stands following the win over Sheffield Wednesday, according to Jonathan Buchan.
The BBC journalist shared via his personal X account after Leeds’ 3-0 win on Sunday (19 January) that Lowry let out a “huge ‘whoop’ whilst pumping his fists in the air”.
The ground had long since emptied by that point as Daniel Farke’s men moved three points clear of third place with a well-earned win – albeit not without its controversy.
Leeds United have breathing space at top of Championship
Lowry, part of 49ers Enterprises, was present to see what was a deserved win for Leeds all things considered, even if the scoreline was a tad flattering.
The Whites had drawn their previous two Championship matches – 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers and 3-3 versus Hull City – and this win was much needed.
Farke’s men are now one point clear of Sheffield United at the summit and three better off than Burnley in third after an eventful weekend of action.
There is no time to rest up, though, as there is a home match against Norwich City to come on Wednesday (22 January), before the small matter of Burnley away a week on Monday (27 January).

Lowry, assuming he is at Elland Road, will be hoping to celebrate three more points against Norwich a few days from now.
If that is the case, Leeds will be nicely positioned ahead of the showdown with Burnley in a little over a week’s time.
In other Leeds United news, a pundit has shared why Farke was fuming during the Sheffield Wednesday match.
