Leeds United v Middlesbrough confirmed XI: Daniel Farke makes wrong call
Daniel Farke has named his Leeds United XI to take on Middlesbrough in the EFL Championship on 22 April.
The German has opted to start Patrick Bamford up front despite his recent struggles.
Joel Piroe is on the bench with Georginio Rutter playing as the number 10.
Daniel Farke gets his Leeds United XI wrong
Bamford is on the wrong side of 30, and has lost his pace and clinical edge in front of goal.
Piroe started the season strongly and started combining well with Rutter but has been kept out of the eleven for a while.
Hopefully, he comes on in the second period and wins the Leeds game.
This season, he’s scored just seven times in 32 league appearances – those aren’t numbers of a striker who’s getting his team up via the top two places.
Leeds United have to beat Middlesbrough
The Whites must secure a victory against Middlesbrough to maintain their chances of automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Currently sitting in third place, a win would temporarily propel them to second, as they have a game in hand over their rivals.
However, a defeat or a draw would jeopardise their chances of finishing in the top two spots, as the competition for promotion is fierce.
With only a few games left in the season, every point is crucial, and Leeds cannot afford to drop any more points if they hope to avoid the playoffs and secure automatic promotion.
