Leeds United v Leicester: Sky Sports host predicts ‘absolute blockbuster’ Championship clash

Leeds United will draw with Leicester City in their Championship clash on Friday (23 Friday), according to Sky Sports host David Prutton.

The two clubs will go head to head under the lights at Elland Road, with the hosts second in the table and the visitors in first.

The Foxes lead the way in the Championship this season with 78 points, with the Whites their nearest competitors with 69.

“What a game this is on Friday night,” Prutton wrote for Sky Sports (22 February). “An absolute blockbuster. Second vs first. I absolutely cannot wait to be at Elland Road for this.

“Leeds are in remarkable form. They have stormed into second place off the back of eight straight wins, conceding just a goal in that run, and have the chance to turn the screw and try and make a bit of a break from Ipswich and Southampton below them.

“Leicester still have a big gap, but that could start to look a little smaller if they are beaten here. They lost to Leeds in the reverse fixture, and are coming off the back of defeat at home to Middlesbrough. Will they be feeling a bit nervy? They may if Leeds take an early lead, but I’ll back a draw and a few goals here.

“Prediction: 2-2.”

Leeds United to overcome league leaders Leicester City?

It certainly takes a brave person to back either one of these sides to go and win the match at Elland Road given their seasons so far.

The Foxes have been on fire for some time now, but their confidence will have taken a huge knock with their recent 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough.

Leeds meanwhile have been unstoppable under Daniel Farke lately, and will be confident of taking at least one point from this one given their current form.

The West Yorkshire club have been putting on show after show for their fans in 2024, and the Elland Road faithful will be eager for another top display on Friday given how important this clash is.

A defeat may not completely end the home side’s title chase, but it would be a long road back for Leeds if the Foxes were to extend their lead at the top of the table.
