Leeds United v Coventry City: Pundit blown away by Joel Piroe

Tony Dorigo has been gushing over Joel Piroe after what he did in the Leeds United v Coventry clash on Saturday, 6 April.

The Dutchman came off the bench and had an instant impact but could not stop the Whites from losing the game.

They ended up losing 2-1 to Coventry as they failed to capitalise on Ipswich Town’s loss v Norwich City.

Dorigo told LUTV, as quoted by LeedsUnitedNews: “Excellent play. Piroe, since he’s come on has been actually superb.

“Of course, scored the goal as well. But moving around well and an excellent ball into Joseph, who lays it off. Just slightly bouncing so Piroe didn’t quite catch it as well as he would like. But on target, good play.”

Piroe must be a regular starter for Leeds United

Daniel Farke’s decision not to start Piroe against Coventry seems misguided, especially considering his impact off the bench.

The Dutchman’s introduction injected energy and provided a spark that Leeds had been lacking earlier in the game.

Additionally, his partnership with Mateo Joseph appeared promising, as they combined well to create scoring opportunities.

Piroe’s absence may have contributed to Georginio Rutter’s struggles, as the two players complement each other effectively on the field.

Given Piroe’s ability to link play and create chances, deploying him in the number 10 role could offer Leeds a more dynamic attacking threat.

Farke should consider starting Piroe in future matches and utilising his talents to unlock the team’s full potential in the final third.
