Leeds United v Chelsea: Ethan Ampadu lauded ahead of FA Cup clash
Leeds United defender Ethan Ampadu, who joined from Chelsea in the summer, has been lauded by Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella.
The two sides take on each other in the FA Cup on Wednesday, 28 February, and the Wales international has been talked of in the build up.
He has been a first-team regular in at Elland Road under Daniel Fake and is expected to be in the starting eleven.
Via Twitter, Kinsella wrote: “Reliably informed that Ethan Ampadu has been outstanding. I watched the 3-1 comeback win over Leicester the other day and he was excellent. An impressive transfer coup from Leeds in the summer, they secured him amid great competition from clubs around Europe.”
Ampadu has been one of the best players for Leeds United
Ampadu’s pivotal role at Leeds stems from his adaptability and consistent performances, which have been crucial amid injury challenges.
Initially deployed in midfield, Ampadu showcased his versatility and technical prowess, contributing significantly to Whites’ quest to seal promotion.
However, injuries to key defenders necessitated a reshuffle, prompting his transition to central defence.
Despite the positional change, the Welshman has seamlessly adapted, demonstrating remarkable defensive qualities.
His ability to read the game, make timely interceptions and distribute the ball effectively from the back has been instrumental in stabilising Leeds’ defence.
Moreover, his composure under pressure and leadership on the field have earned him praise from both fans and pundits alike.
Ampadu’s impact extends beyond his individual performances; he’s become a linchpin in Fake’s tactical setup, providing solidity and assurance to the team’s backline.
As they gear up for the FA Cup clash, Ampadu’s presence will be pivotal in thwarting the opposition’s attacks and maintaining defensive resilience and he would love to get on over his former side.
