Leeds U23s trio could be named on bench for clash v Arsenal, one is 18y/o striker – report
Ryan Edmondson, Alfie McCalmont and Kamil Miazek could be on the bench for Leeds United in their FA Cup clash against Arsenal on Monday night, according to LeedsLive.
All three started for the Under-23s side on Sunday as they beat Hull 5-0 at Thorp Arch but LeedsLive reports they could be in the matchday squad at the Emirates.
Marcelo Bielsa has shown that he is willing to use players twice in two days before and the shortage of options in his senior side could see him call on some of those in the Under-23s to make up the numbers for the trip to Arsenal.
Edmondson, 18, could be seen as Leeds’ second-choice striker now that Eddie Nketiah has been recalled by Arsenal while McAlmost and goalkeeper Miazek may be in the squad so that others can be left back in Yorkshire to rest up.
It will be very interesting to see what kind of squad Bielsa picks on Monday night.
He has already confirmed a few changes with Illan Meslier and Robbie Gotts coming in for their debuts and returns to the starting line-up for Barry Douglas and Gaetano Berardi.
But it remains to be seen who will make the bench at the Emirates and that is where Bielsa could spring some surprises.
In other Leeds United news, one of Victor Orta’s striker targets is due to join a Championship rival after a deal was agreed.
