Leeds United confirmed XI v Norwich City as Daniel Farke hands out full debut

Daniel Farke has drafted in Ao Tanaka for his first Championship start as Leeds United take on Norwich City at Carrow Road.

The Whites confirmed their starting XI via X [1 October] for the trip to Norfolk after dismantling Coventry City at the weekend with a 3-0 success at Elland Road.

Farke – who returns to his old stomping ground once again – was forced into the sole change to his line-up with Ethan Ampadu out for an extended period.

The midfielder’s withdrawal saw the introduction of Tanaka for over half the game, and the Japan international is looking to grab his chance with both hands with this his full debut.

Ethan Ampadu absence for Leeds United shines light on Ao Tanaka

Leeds United are looking strong as expected and the selection from Farke appears predictable.

Ampadu’s absence is a huge blow, especially with the smaller squad options for the German beyond his attacking output.

Tanaka, who was mooted to eventually shift Ilia Gruev from the side, will now partner the Bulgarian for the time being.

Elsewhere, Joel Piroe is yet again only on the bench after another impact substitute appearance which resulted in a goal against Coventry, as Mateo Joseph leads the line and Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani again start out wide.

Brenden Aaronson is deployed in the central attacking role, with youngsters Charlie Crew, James Debayo and Sam Chambers all taking places on the bench.

In other Leeds news, the club could benefit indirectly from an arrangement between Red Bull and a Premier League side.
