Leeds United star spotted having a scuffle vs Brentford after Jordan Henderson opener

Ethan Ampadu was not happy after conceding as Leeds United battled back to draw 1-1 with Brentford on Sunday.

Daniel Farke’s side were the better team for the majority of the contest, but looked set to leave West London empty-handed after Henderson opened the scoring with just 20 minutes remaining.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin found a late equaliser for Leeds, though, rising highest to head home a Willy Gnonto cross.

Calvert-Lewin has now scored in each of his last four Premier League appearances and is in superb form for the Whites.

With the scores at 0-0, Brentford midfielder Henderson latched onto a loose ball in the Leeds box to fire the hosts in front.

Jaka Bijol and Lucas Perri were both on the line, but the England international’s shot ricocheted between them and into the net.

As Henderson went off to celebrate, Leeds midfielder Ethan Ampadu got involved in an off-camera incident.

According to Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Graham Smyth via X, Ampadu had “a brief scuffle” in the moments after the goal went in.

However, referee John Brooks opted to keep his cards in his pocket, with neither the Leeds skipper nor any Brentford players going in the book.

Redknapp spot on with Ethan Ampadu verdict

Leeds will be relieved that Ampadu wasn’t punished for the incident, as the Welshman is so important to their midfield.

The 25-year-old was excellent once again as Farke’s side secured a crucial point away from home, and moved further away from the Premier League relegation zone.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp highlighted Ampadu’s performance against Brentford.

Redknapp said: “I thought he was fabulous in midfield. He grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half, a real captain’s performance.”
