Leeds United star does not arrive at Elland Road for Oxford United clash

Max Wober has not arrived with the Leeds United squad for the Championship clash with Oxford United on Saturday, Adam Pope has shared.

The Whites welcome Oxford to Elland Road on 21 October, with the Austrian an injury doubt after missing some training in the week.

Pascal Struijk was also labelled as 50/50, but he has arrived with the squad as Daniel Farke looks to go into Christmas with another three points.

Pope wrote on X: “Squad arriving: Struijk here but no Wober. Chambers with squad.”

Leeds United injury blow v Oxford United

Farke will have been expecting some absentees, with there being little reason to risk any of his players ahead of the busy Christmas period starting today.

With five games between 21 December and 5 January, rotation will be key and Struijk may even be set for a rest on the bench, despite arriving at Elland Road.

Ethan Ampadu has increased his minutes off the bench in recent weeks, so he could slot into defence again alongside Joe Rodon, something that worked so well last season.

Josuha Guilavogui and James Debayo can also fill that role if needed, with squad depth much better this time around after some solid recoveries at Thorp Arch.

Regardless of who plays, it is crucial to start building momentum at this time of year and string some wins together in the Championship if promotion is your goal.

This is where teams can either solidify their promotion hopes, or see them crumble in front of their eyes, with Leeds hoping to prove their strength again.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites must sell a player Marcelo Bielsa called “influential”, his potential replacement already has 13G/A this season.
