BBC pundit slams Leeds United in bitter rant after Norwich are hammered at Elland Road
Cedric Anselin insists Norwich City missed a trick by failing to take a lead into the second leg of their play-off tie with an out-of-form Leeds United.
Leeds had won just one of their previous six matches heading into last week’s tie at Carrow Road, which ended in an uneventful goalless draw.
That left the contest in the balance heading into Thursday’s (16 May) return fixture, but it was never in doubt as Leeds ran out 4-0 winners.
Speaking on BBC Radio Norfolk after the game [16 May, 10:25pm], former Norwich player Anselin said: “David Wagner has got some answers to respond to the press and maybe the fans.
“On Sunday, Norwich played at home in the first leg. You have to win. Leeds were not in good form. Norwich just crumbled.”
Leeds United heading to Wembley
Last weekend’s stalemate at Carrow Road was rather disappointing, but at the same time it ensured Leeds remained favourites to advance.
Still, absolutely nobody expected the second leg to be as comfortable as it was, with United good value for their four-goal victory.
Indeed, on another day, it could easily have been six or seven against a truly terrible Norwich side on the night.
The Canaries did indeed “crumble” on the face of it, although at the same time this was just the league table reflecting itself.

While Leeds may have been in underwhelming form of late, they still finished 17 points better off than Norwich in the regular campaign.
Daniel Farke’s men will now sit back and await to see who they will face at Wembley – either Southampton or West Brom.
On the basis of this second-leg performance, it really does not matter who they face.
In other Leeds United news, Chris Sutton made a “ridiculous” claim about a Whites player ahead of the match with Norwich.
