Leeds United: Sky Sports pundit slams one thing Willy Gnonto did wrong in 4-0 win v Swansea

Leeds United star Willy Gnonto missed the chance to wrap up all three points in the first half of the clash with Swansea City.

That is according to Sky Sports pundit Sam Parkin, who claimed the winger will have been “so frustrated” after missing a chance in the first-half in South Wales with his side 2-0 ahead.

The Italian attacker hit a tame effort at Swansea goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, but he did soon make amends by netting a brace as Leeds won 4-0.

“Willy Gnonto will be so frustrated,” Parkin said live on Sky Sports Action (9.02pm, 13 February). “At this stage of the game, that’s it, that’s the three points there really.

“But the shot lacks conviction, doesn’t find either corner, hits Rushworth in the midriff. It was a very, very comfortable save for the goalkeeper.”

Willy Gnonto flying high at Leeds United

Gnonto has had quite the career at Leeds, which is really remarkable given how he really hasn’t been at the club for that long.

The winger has been linked with an Elland Road exit throughout his time at the club, but is now thriving on the pitch and looks likely to continue doing so.

His roller-coaster Whites career was perfectly summarised against Swansea, with the attacker missing a glorious chance to put the game to bed early on.

But he then recovered not long after that tame effort at goal, driving at the home defence before slotting the ball home.

Gnonto then added another to put the visitors 4-0 up in South Wales, with the result certainly sending a warning to the other title chasers.

The Italian finally looks settled after all the noise surrounding his Leeds future last month, although that could arise once more in the summer transfer window.

In other Leeds United news, a journalist has issued a January transfer admission over Gnonto, with an Elland Road exit prediction made.
