Leeds United predicted XI v West Ham: Bamford misses out

Patrick Bamford appears likely to miss the Leeds United clash against West Ham later today (January 16) due to injury.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Marcelo Bielsa stated that the England international was still short of match fitness.

This would rule the 28-year-old out of the game against the Hammers and we expect him to be out for another week at the very least.

Bielsa said, “No, [Bamford] hasn’t had a setback, he’s still evolving. His recovery still hasn’t been finalised.”

However, the Argentine confirmed that Rodrigo could be back and due to the lack of options, we believe that the Spaniard will lead the line.

In goal, Illan Meslier is the undisputed number one and will continue to feature for the Whites.

Ahead of him, Luke Ayling will start at right-back while we expect Pascal Struijk to be given another game before getting back.

Bielsa did not confirm that he has returned and that could mean that he will be passing a late fitness test.

This means Leo Hjelde,18, could be in line for his Premier League debut after featuring against the same opponents in the FA Cup.

We expect Junior Firpo to recover which means that Stuart Dallas will feature in midfield along with Adam Forshaw.

Jack Harrison, Daniel James and Raphinha have proven that they can work as a trio behind the striker and we expected Bielsa to deploy the three of them.

Leeds will be hoping to register two league wins in a row for the first time this season.
