Leeds United predicted XI v Real Sociedad: Robin Koch returns, Crysencio Summerville ruled out with injury
Leeds United will continue their preparations for the return to the Premier League with another friendly on 16 December, as they host Real Sociedad at Elland Road.
The Whites recently earned a tough win in Spain against doomed La Liga outfit Elche in what was a bitter-sweet victory for Jesse Marsch’s side.
Crysencio Summerville looks set to miss the Sociedad clash after limping off against Elche, but the friendly could see the return of Robin Koch to the starting lineup with Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen possibly back in action.
Illan Meslier is expected to miss out on taking his usual position between the posts for the Whites, with the goalkeeper suffering from glandular fever, this means Joel Robles will likely resume his role for Leeds in goal.
Cody Drameh got the nod to start against Elche by Marsch but was replaced by a returning Luke Ayling in the second half, Marsch will likely opt for the tried and tested Ayling to start at right-back this time around.
Robin Koch will likely return to the starting line up having missed the Elche game with a minor injury, the German’s return to action should mean Pascal Struijk reverts to his 2022/23 home at left-back.
Liam Cooper will likely resume his role in the centre of defence and will partner with the returning Koch at the heart of Marsh’s side.
Jack Harrison should be given the nod to start again on one wing for Leeds United, he needs all the minutes he can get after a long spell on the sidelines.
Young starlet Wilfred Gnonto seems like the best bet to replace the injured Summerville on the other wing, this could be the perfect chance for the Italian to stamp his claim for a first-team place.
Marc Roca and Adam Forshaw should continue in midfield after impressing during their outings against Elche in the Festa d’Elx Trophy.
Joe Gelhardt had started wide right against Elche, but Sam Greenwood may be Marsch’s preferred option to sit behind Rodrigo on December 16.
Predicted line-up: Robles; Ayling, Koch, Cooper, Struijk; Forshaw, Roca; Harrison, Greenwood, Gnonto; Rodrigo.
In other Leeds United news, talks are underway over this player quitting Elland Road for a high-paid contract.
