Leeds United: Wilfried Gnonto update shared ahead of Watford match at Vicarage Road

Wilfried Gnonto was nowhere to be seen as the Leeds United team arrived ahead of the clash with Watford.

Leeds Live reporter Beren Cross shared video footage of the Leeds team getting off the coach at Vicarage Road on his personal X account [29 March], with Connor Roberts and Ilia Gruev also absent.

Roberts, Gruev and Gnonto were all doubtful for the match after sustaining injuries over the international break.

With the first-team trio missing out, young midfielder Charlie Crew travelled with the squad and is expected to be part of the matchday squad.

Leeds United depleted for Watford match

Daniel Farke was always going to be sweating on the fitness of Gnonto, Roberts and Gruev after they sustained knocks over the past week.

The German did not rule any of them out of the match at Vicarage Road when speaking to reporters at his press conference on Thursday (28 March).

However, you suspect that may have been mind games on his behalf as he would not have wanted to give anything away to Watford.

Roberts has been mainly a squad player since arriving, but his absence for any period of time is still a blow.

Even more so in the cases of Gnonto and Gruev, with both likely to have started at Vicarage Road had they been available for selection.

Instead, it means others now have a chance to step up and show they are worthy of a starting spot.

Farke has a very strong squad, particularly in the final third, and hopefully that proves against Watford.

It is unfortunate that the trio are absent, but this push for automatic promotion is all about the squad as a whole, rather than individuals.

In other Leeds United news, Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing a Whites gem.
