Leeds United news as unusual Daniel Farke development spotted v Millwall

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke was unusually animated after Daniel James scored against Millwall, according to Phil Hay.

The winger netted his club’s second goal as the Whites defeated Millwall 2-0 at Elland Road on Sunday (17 March).

Wilfried Gnonto also scored, with the victory sending Leeds to the top of the Championship table on goal difference.

“The crowd had done their maths and understood what the finish meant,” Hay wrote for The Athletic, discussing the second goal of the match.

“Farke punching the air gave away the fact that he did too, an unusually animated reaction full of emotion.”

Leeds United hit top spot with yet another Daniel Farke win

Farke has completely turned things around at Elland Road, with real chaos in the dugout last season when the Whites were struggling in the Premier League.

The German has shown fine composure both on and off the pitch this season, but he understandably allowed himself a little bit more emotion after James found the back of the net against Millwall.

The goal means the Whites, who are level on 82 points with Leicester City, now have a +42 goal difference.

The tally from the Foxes stands at +41, although they do have a game in hand over Leeds, having been instead involved in FA Cup action on Sunday.

Enzo Maresca’s side went crashing out of the competition at the quarter-final stages, losing 4-2 to Premier League giants Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
