Leeds United: Mauricio Pochettino sends Gary Neville message after Chelsea win

Mauricio Pochettino has fired back at Gary Neville for his comments post the Chelsea v Liverpool game as the Blues beat Leeds United.

Neville called Chelsea the “Blue Billion Bottlejobs” as they lost to a young Reds side in the Carabao Cup final.

They managed to get the job done against the Whites on 28 February, but it took them a late goal to win 3-2.

Sky Sports shared a video of Pochettino saying: “Gary, my friend, what have you done? Because his opinion now is always surrounding us. Come on. It is not fair to use these types of words for a team that is so brave.”

While Pochettino might defend Chelsea against Neville’s criticism, he shouldn’t overlook the reality of their performance against Leeds.

Despite securing a victory, Chelsea’s struggle against a team from a lower division raises questions about their consistency and ability to dominate games effectively.

The fact that Leeds fielded a young striker like Mateo Joseph, who managed to score two goals at Stamford Bridge, highlights vulnerabilities in Chelsea’s defence.

Additionally, the presence of several first-team Leeds players on the bench suggests that they were not at full strength either.

Therefore, Pochettino’s celebration might be premature, as the performance against Leeds exposes underlying issues that Chelsea need to address to maintain their status as a top-tier team.

Instead of dismissing Neville’s criticism outright, Pochettino should use it as a reminder that Chelsea still have areas to improve upon despite their recent victories.
