Leeds United ‘make squad decision’ for West Brom match as trio ruled out

Daniel Farke has been left with a big decision to make ahead of the clash between Leeds United and West Brom with a trio of absentees from his squad.

Leeds welcome West Brom to Elland Road on Saturday (1 March) for the early kick-off game in the Championship.

Daniel Farke’s men will be hoping to extend their run of wins to stay at least five points clear at the top of the table, although facing a Baggies side that sit fifth in the league will not be the easiest clash of the campaign.

Farke without trio for Leeds v West Brom

Leeds have been in spectacular form throughout the season and there have been plenty of players throughout the squad who have performed to consistently high levels.

With that in mind, it is no wonder that Farke’s men have found themselves sitting comfortably at the top of the Championship table, looking upwards towards the Premier League.

However, according to Leeds Live [1 March], the boss will be without three first-team players for his side’s clash against Albion.

Captain Ethan Ampadu is ruled out through a knee injury, similar to Max Wober, and Patrick Bamford is also unavailable for selection.

All three players are not expected to be available again until the end of March.

Leeds United to carry on winning run against West Brom

Leeds look like an unstoppable force this season and come into the game against West Brom unbeaten in 16 Championship matches.

As the final run of games starts to approach clubs, the Whites will be hopeful to have a squad with as much fitness as possible in order to increase options entering a crucial part of the campaign.

In reality, Bamford hasn’t been much of an option for Farke this term anyway, so it’s unlikely we would see him have too much involvement against Albion even if he was fit.

However, Ampadu has been a vital part of Leeds’ season so far, and if he can regain fitness by the end of the season, he will certainly have his part to play in the final push for promotion – if it’s not already secured by then.

Wober was hit by an injury at a cruel time as he was starting to show what he could do in the side but instead, has just six league appearances to his name.

The West Yorkshire outfit can’t afford to let themselves get too relaxed too soon, and with the Baggies pushing for a place in the play-off spots, they will no doubt be a tough opponent to come up against, especially given Tony Mowbray will have his side organised.

Nevertheless, another victory will only help to build the momentum in the Leeds camp and get them one step further to where they’re aiming to be.
