Leeds United ‘make James squad decision’ for Stoke City clash as three ruled out

Leeds United are set to be without three players when they take on Stoke City in their latest Championship clash.

The Whites will look to take one step closer toward promotion to the Premier League on Monday (21 April) when they host Stoke at Elland Road.

With just three games remaining this season and the Whites top of the league, everything is in their hands in regards to promotion.

The Yorkshire giants are attempting to win the league this season, but with only goal difference separating them and Burnley at the moment, Daniel Farke’s team have no room for error.

There’s also pressure on Leeds to deliver goals to keep themselves above Scott Parker’s team as they continue to push for top-flight football.

Dan James’ status has been determined

James has been a key part of the Leeds squad this season, with the Wales international causing plenty of problems for other teams out wide.

His pace has been important for Farke this season, with the Whites often using him to spring the offside trap and get behind teams with a long ball.

After a recent hamstring issue, James has managed to shrug things off in a bid to be available for Leeds during the run-in, and that could lead to him starting against Stoke.

James’ presence will be welcomed by the Elland Road faithful, whether it’s from the bench or the starting lineup, and that should make the team even stronger.

As reported by Leeds Live (21 April), James will be part of the squad again and likely pushing for a start against Stoke.

Leeds have several injury issues

Even though Farke will have James available as an option on Monday, he is going to be missing three players due to injury.

Pascal Struijk remains out of action with a foot injury, while midfielder Joe Rothwell is also injured due to a calf issue.

Sam Chambers is another player that Farke won’t have available this time around as the youngster is dealing with glandular fever at the moment.

Even though Leeds have a trio of injuries to deal with, fans will be confident that they have the squad capable of causing Stoke problems, especially since they will be heading into this fixture as the heavy favourites.
