Leeds United make Dan James squad decision v Bristol City as three ruled out

Leeds United have two Championship games remaining before they return to the Premier League, and they are still competing for the title.

Daniel Farke’s side earned promotion alongside Burnley, but the Clarets are now top of the Championship following their 5-0 win away at QPR.

Leeds are three points behind, meaning their upcoming clash with Bristol City is a must-win if they are to secure the title.

Winger Dan James missed the emphatic victory over Stoke which secured promotion, and he could now be set for further frustration.

James to miss Leeds v Bristol City

Leeds’ clash with Bristol City will be their final game at Elland Road this season, and they will want to put on a strong display for their fans.

However, there will be no final bow this season for James, as he is set to miss out on the squad again for the match.

James has struggled with injuries in recent weeks, and is still not fit enough for the bench yet, with Leeds Live (28 April) reporting that he will not be in the matchday squad.

The Welshman has been one of Leeds’ best performers this season, but it now appears that he could be out for the rest of the campaign, with Pascal Struijk and Sam Chambers also ruled out.

James has been outstanding for Leeds

Leeds have a lot of depth in wide areas, but James has been the best performer of them all this season, and has been missed when absent.

James has made 36 appearances in the Championship this season as his fitness has not always been consistent, but he has netted 12 goals and created nine in that time.

This has been his best season in terms of output, and he has netted some vital goals for Leeds in their push for promotion.

James also has Premier League experience under his belt, and will continue to be an important figure next season as Leeds attempt to make the step up to the top flight.
