Leeds United: Luke Ayling clashes with fans in Premier League clash v Spurs with relegation confirmed

Leeds United defender Luke Ayling was involved in a furious clash with fans at Elland Road during the final-day defeat against Spurs today, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist shared what he spotted as the defender went to collect the ball for a throw-in after conceding early in the must-win game.

At the same time as that happening, the fans started to chant negatively about Andrea Radrizzani ahead of his expected exit this summer from the club.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Smyth shared what happened as Ayling clashed with angry fans after the early goal went in from Harry Kane.

“Ayling having words with home fans in the West Stand,” he wrote. “Something presumably said as he went to retrive the ball. Looks furious.

“Radrizzani’s name ringing out and not in a way he would like.”

Furious.

These players are simply not good enough, and fans are letting them know that.

Of course, they shouldn’t cross the line, but these players have shown they have zero backbone and the little words are seeing them crumble, just like they do on the pitch.

Ayling has been one of the worst in the entire squad this season, and that is not just singling him out, with none of them showing any courage when it was needed the most.

We have had the squad ignoring young fans and all sorts already this season, with the relationship between those in the stands and those on the pitch worst than it has been in a long time.

It has to be done in the right way if the fans are to let the players know what they think, you cannot cross the line, which many have done already this season.

Leeds have been relegated, and some of these players need to take responsibility and stop these crocodile tears when the fans eventually bite back.

In other Leeds United news, David Prutton has offered his assessment on the “ultimate slap in the face” to the club’s fans.
