‘Massive’ – BBC pundit claims Huddersfield could exploit ‘Achilles heel’ of Leeds

BBC pundit Jon Newsome has claimed that Huddersfield Town could exploit Leeds United from set-pieces on Saturday afternoon.

The former Whites ace claimed that it has been their Achilles heel this season in the Championship and something that the Cowley brothers could want to target at Elland Road.

Fellow pundit Matt Glennon agreed with that but also suggested that a big part of that problem was the indecisiveness of Kiko Casilla.

Both Glennon and Newsome agreed that set-pieces have been a real weapon for the Terriers this season, and it could be a big area to target the Whites.

“Set-pieces are a massive thing,” he told BBC West Yorkshire Sport.

“I know set-pieces are a bit of an Achilles heel for Leeds or have been this year so you know that’ll not go unnoticed, they’ll have worked on that.”

Glennon went on to point out that the presence of Illan Meslier, who impressed against Hull, could make a difference.

“To be fair, Casilla has been a big part of that and obviously he’s not going to be playing – you don’t know if he’s coming or going at times.”

It was a clear area that Leeds were exploited in time after time over the Christmas period but recently they have returned to their old impressive ways at the back.

Four clean sheets on the bounce have seen the Whites earn their spot as the in-form side in the Championship, and Marcelo Bielsa will definitely have wanted his side to go back to basics.

Noel Whelan is usually a regular on the Friday night show, and he recently admitted to Football Insider that Leeds have started to and will need to continue protecting their keepers like they have done with Casilla and Meslier in the past month.

Leeds stoppers rarely have much to do in games, but it is important that doesn’t change against Huddersfield on Saturday.
