Leeds United fans will want Jayden Bogle refund as struggles continue v West Brom

Jayden Bogle has struggled to settle into life at Leeds United since his move from Sheffield United, it would be fair to say.

Fans will also aim fire at the whole of Daniel Farke’s backline after conceding six goals in Leeds’ opening two matches of the 2024/25 campaign, drawing 3-3 with Portsmouth before losing 3-0 to Middlesbrough.

Bogle, though, will have arrived at Elland Road with such big expectations after the Whites splashed out £5million to replace Archie Gray at right-back [Yorkshire Evening Post].

Since then, the 24-year-old has failed to meet those expectations in a Leeds shirt.

He nearly gave all three points to Portsmouth in the opening match of the new Championship campaign, giving away a penalty for Callum Lang to dispatch in the second minute of added time before Brenden Aaronson saved the day in the thriller at Elland Road.

The full-back was left out of the starting XI against Middlesbrough as Farke’s side crashed out of the EFL Cup before being thrown back into his position against West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday 17 August.

Jayden Bogle fails to impress in Leeds United v West Brom

Bogle picked up an early yellow card against the Baggies, failing to deal with Tom Fellows down the right flank and picking up a caution after just 22 minutes, and rightly so.

After tabling £5million for the defender, and Leeds’ only other big-money signing being Joe Rodon in a £10million deal with Tottenham [BBC Sport], fans have every right to be concerned.

While Sam Byram is capable of deputising at right-back, he is much more comfortable on the opposite flank, so Farke has few options if he wants to replace the defender at any point during the season.

Hopefully, it will just be a case of Bogle learning the tactics at Elland Road and settling into life in West Yorkshire, but right now, his struggles continue for Leeds.
