'Absolutely smashing it' – Some Leeds fans thrilled by loanee display against table-topping side

Robbie Gotts might have put a few noses out of joint among Leeds United fans when he signed for Salford on loan but he’s starting to really turn on the style.

He got his second goal in four games and the third of the game on Tuesday night as Salford put the hammer to top-of-the-league side Cambridge.

Gotts has started the last four games and played the full 90 minutes in the last three and he seems to be really picking up some momentum after being used sporadically at Lincoln.

The versatile 21-year-old has played the last two games in an attacking midfield position, after being played at full-back and at right-midfield for Lincoln.

Gotts himself tweeted after the game, saying “What a win, always nice to chip in with a goal! Onto the next we go.”

The result leaves Salford in ninth place in League 2 and just two points off the play-off places.

And, while Leeds fans might have a reason for wanting the club to miss out on promotion, they’re loving what Gotts is doing.

He’s under contract at Leeds until 2022 and this represents a really big chance for him to get meaningful game-time ahead of the next season under Bielsa in the top-flight.

His best time in a Leeds shirt was in the FA Cup game against Arsenal. We hope he gets the chance to show the fans what he’s really made of next year.

Meanwhile, here are the best reactions to his display on Tuesday night…
