Leeds United: Danny Mills destroys ‘ridiculous’ Chelsea ace Axel Disasi after FA Cup incident

Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has been destroyed by Danny Mills for some “ridiculous” decision-making in the lead-up to the opening goals in the FA Cup clash with Leeds United.

Daniel Farke’s side were unable to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday (28 February) as Chelsea ran out 3-2 winners thanks to goals from Nicolas Jackson, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Conor Gallagher.

Leeds had taken the lead through Mateo Joseph after only eight minutes, but the Whites were gifted their opener after Diasi played a terrible pass into Moises Caicedo, with Mills labelling Chelsea the “architects of their own downfall”.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Special on Wednesday (28 February, 19:40) he said: “Leeds have taken the lead as Mateo Joseph has slotted in. They’re trying to play out from the back from a goal kick and it’s ridiculous.

“Diasi plays the ball into Caicedo who’s stood on the edge of the 18-yard box, they lose the ball when it comes to Joseph and he slots home. It’s almost just ridiculous how you’re trying to play out from the back, Leeds have put a high-press on right from the beginning of the game.

“Chelsea are architects of their own downfall really, that’s really poor play.”

Leeds United focus on Premier League return after Chelsea defeat

Leeds United and Farke can be incredibly proud of their cup performance at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. Even if the result didn’t go their way, the Whites impressed and put plenty of pressure on the League Cup finalists.

For Joseph as well, it will have been excellent to score his first and second senior goal for the Whites and while he was slightly fortunate with how it came about, he was more than deserving of that strike with his tireless display.

Farke has plenty of exciting attacking talent now at his disposal at Elland Road, with the likes of Georginio Rutter, Joel Piroe and Crysencio Summerville all impressing at different stages of the season.

While the Whites would have liked to have booked their place in the quarter-finals, they can now turn their attention back to the Championship and focus on making an immediate return to the Premier League.
