Leeds United confirmed XI v Sheffield Wednesday – Daniel Farke axes Dan James in three changes
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has made three changes to his Whites’ starting XI to face Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship on Friday 8 March.
The Leeds boss has dropped Dan James, Connor Roberts and Sam Byram from the starting line-up following the Whites’ win over Stoke City, with Junior Firpo, Archie Gray and Wilfried Gnonto returning to the fold.
Gnonto will more than likely start from the left wing with Firp a like-for-like replacement for Byram while 17-year-old Gray will return to right back having impressed in midfield in recent weeks.
Can Leeds United win promotion to the Premier League this season?
For Leeds United, their task is very simple between now and the end of the season. They have to keep winning games and just hope that one of Ipswich Town or Leicester City slips up in the remaining matches to win automatic promotion.
Farke’s side have shown this term that they can beat anyone they face. They impressed against the Tractor Boys in both matches and it was only a matter of weeks ago that they stormed past the Foxes to upset the order of the Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday will pose a very different threat to either of those teams, but they have shown in recent weeks that they are a competitive outfit at this level. If they’re at their best, they are capable of pulling off an upset.
Leeds need to put in another professional performance and claim all three points. With the team above and around them not playing until Saturday (8 March) they have an excellent opportunity to increase the pressure on their title rivals.
Hopefully, they will match most pundits’ predictions and will claim all three points.
