Leeds United confirmed XI v Manchester United: Junior Firpo starts in two changes

Leeds United have confirmed their starting XI for the Premier League clash against Manchester United at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon (12 February).

The Whites’ caretaker boss, Michael Skubala, is in charge of his second game of the senior side after he guided them to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford earlier this week.

Skubala has made two changes for this game. Pascal Struijk has been ruled out, while Luis Sinisterra has failed to make the squad as well. Junior Firpo and Crysenscio Summerville have made the starting line-up.

Interestingly, two young talents have been selected in the matchday squad. January signing Diogo Monteiro and young rising talent Jeremiah-Chilokoah Mullen are on the bench for the first time in the senior side.

Positive

Leeds played brilliantly against Manchester United at Old Trafford and at one point, they went 2-0 up. However, the home side fought brilliantly and got back into the game in a pulsating thriller.

This game at Elland Road also promises to be a cracker but the Whites are missing a few key players. Struijk is absent for this game after the Dutchman picked up a concussion in the previous game. This is a standard protocol, and he misses out as a result.

The defence remains a major worry for the Whites, and they have to stay resolute at the back, which won’t be an easy task.

In the last match, Weston McKennie made his first start for the club, and he looked amazing in the middle of the park alongside Tyler Adams. They absolutely dominated the midfield.

Obviously, all eyes are on Willy Gnonto now. The youngster is enjoying a fantastic run of form, and he should be in full confidence after scoring against the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
