Jamie Shackleton axed - Leeds United confirmed starting XI for Championship clash v Millwall
Leeds United have confirmed their starting XI for their visit to face Millwall at The Den on Sunday 17 September in the Championship, as they look to return from the international break with a win.
Sam Byram returns to the side from injury, while Ilia Gruev and Jaidon Anthony make the bench alongside in-form Jame Shackleton, who’s been dropped from the starting line-up to accommodate Bryam. Archie Gray remains in the starting lineup despite concerns over his fitness after he pulled out of international duty.
New arrival Djed Spence has not been deemed ready to be involved yet, while injuries continue to keep Liam Cooper, Patrick Bamford, Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas out of the matchday squad.
Looking to bounce back
Leeds will be looking to bounce back from a frustrating 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday last time out, and the international break has been kind to them as they will see a number of players return to the squad who had previously been missing.
The key in the visit to South London could be decided by the extra cutting-edge in the Leeds squad, with Joel Piroe still the Whites’ biggest threat, and they may rely on him to provide the goals they lacked against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Yorkshire side head into the game in 18th place, and despite it still being early in the season, concerns may begin to emerge if they fail to get all three points from their visit to The Den today.
Important players will be expected to step up for Leeds, with three points on the road important if they wish to push towards the top of the table, as they need to get the wheels in motion quickly if they want to target a successful season under Farke’s leadership.
