Leeds United confirm starting XI for FA Cup clash v Accrington Stanley

Leeds United have confirmed their starting XI for their FA Cup fixture with Accrington Stanley on Saturday 28 January with six changes made.

Jesse Marsch decided to make six changes to his starting XI with the likes of Junior Firpo and Luis Sinisterra coming into the team to start against the lower-leagued side.

As confirmed on Twitter prior to kick-off, Marsch also handed a debut to January signing Georginio Rutter in what will be the Whites’ best chance at winning some silverware this season.

Strange hurdle.

An FA Cup clash against a lower-leagued side is always a strange hurdle to navigate and failure to get through to the next round would only spell bad news for Marsch.

The American’s record at Leeds United is far from what is needed and the jury is still well and truly out on whether he is the man to lead the Whites forward.

And if you add a cup giant-killing disaster to that mix, the mood at Elland Road could turn a lot sourer than it already is.

Leeds United simply must win today and do so in a convincing fashion, there is no real reason for a Premier League side not to beat a team sitting at the bottom of League One.

A busy January transfer window has eased fears of relegation ever so slightly in recent weeks but results are needed on the pitch for Marsch to win over fans.

New signings should help him to do this, however, if they fail to perform or enhance the team in any way, shape or form then Marsch’s job must come under fire.
