Leeds player ratings v Man United – Gnonto mesmerising, 4/10 hopeless

Leeds United’s pre-season schedule got underway with a goalless draw against Man United.

Daniel Farke will be no stranger to the task that awaits him and his Leeds side in the top flight, and it will be crucial that they are prepared for their opening day clash against Everton.

Pre-season will play a huge role in that, with some promising signs against Ruben Amorim’s side in Stockholm, and some not so much.

Leeds arguably looked the most dangerous throughout the game, but failed to take advantage, with both sides having to settle for a 0-0 draw.

Gnonto shows promise v Man United

It was a frustrating campaign for Gnonto last time out, who struggled to stake a claim for his place in the side under Daniel Farke.

When he did feature, he showed his true ability, and it was no different in the pre-season opener against Man United.

The Italian’s flair was on full display down the right flank, and he caused problems for the Red Devils’ defence throughout the clash, with a series of neat touches and moves to get Leeds on the front foot.

He constantly looked to make things happen, and was often two steps ahead of his teammates to his own detriment.

Dan James is likely to occupy that position in the Premier League, though Farke simply has to find a way to utilise Gnonto after a bright showing.

Jack Harrison frustrates in pre-season opener

Jack Harrison spent the last two campaigns on loan at Everton and failed to impress enough to persuade them into making a permanent deal, with his return to Leeds anticipated.

The Englishman started against Man United and was immediately met with boos from the Leeds supporters, and he did very little to subdue those voices of discontent.

Aside from a few minor glimpses of quality, his overall performance was underwhelming, and it’s hard to see him having any real part to play in the Premier League.

If an exit opportunity emerges, both he and Leeds simply have to take it.
