Leeds likely to field young squad against Fleetwood

Leeds United are likely to name a younger squad against Fleetwood this evening in their latest pre-season clash.

It has been reported by Leeds Live that with the game against Real Betis tomorrow, rotation is expected by Marcelo Bielsa yet again.

The Whites have crammed numerous friendlies into their schedule this week, with Fleetwood the third of four games.

There are numerous players who are yet to be used.

Patrick Bamford, Liam Cooper and Ian Poveda haven’t featured for the Whites, despite having trained throughout pre-season.

All three have been hinted at as possible senior players to make the trip to Highbury and could feature in front of the travelling fans.

Kalvin Phillips recently returned from his holiday after the EUROs, but it could come too soon for him to play some part.

The Yorkshire Pirlo may start against Betis, and if not then, definitely against Ajax in Amsterdam next week.

Bamford a certainty?

The Whites talisman may be a certainty to start for the first time during this pre-season against Fleetwood.

Joe Gelhardt picked up a knock against Guiseley, Sam Greenwood is the only player to feature in both games so far, and Rodrigo started at Blackburn.

Bamford is the only forward left, and we need to get him firing going into the game at Old Trafford in two weeks time.

Having said that, it would likely only be 45 minutes, as it would allow him to be used for the same amount tomorrow if needed.

The games are coming thick and fast, and we already can’t wait to be at that Manchester United opener.
