Leeds fans slam Alioski performance v Southampton

Leeds United may have won 3-0 against Southampton on Tuesday night but not everyone could be pleased as a section of fans took aim at Ezgjan Alioski for his performance.

Alioski, 29, came off the bench to replace Mateusz Klich in the 59th minute, slotting in at left-back at Stuart Dallas moved into the centre of the midfield.

Dallas and Raphinha both scored to round off the emphatic 3-0 win with Alioski on the pitch but the North Macedonia international completely failed to impress a whole bunch of Leeds fans on social media.

According to stats by WhoScored, Alioski completed just two passes in his 31 minutes on the pitch, with a very low pass accuracy of 29 per cent.

The former Lugano ace was also dribbled past twice by Southampton attackers and made two tackles out of the four he attempted.

It wasn’t a classic display by Alioski, we’ll admit that. However, the reaction to his performance on Twitter was a bit over the top considering the Whites won 3-0 and moved into the top half of the Premier League.

One Leeds fan even claimed that Victor Orta “needs sacking” if the 29-year-old is handed a new contract, with his existing deal due to expire in the summer.

It’s an extreme view, which we think is very harsh because Alioski has played a role at Elland Road this season and is clearly rated by manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Who are we to question Bielsa, really?

Here is a selection of tweets from Leeds fans who slated Alioski on Tuesday:
