Leeds fans react to Kalvin Phillips display v Charlton

Leeds fell to their second defeat of the season against Charlton on Saturday and Kalvin Phillips put in an uncharacteristically poor display – something that was picked up on by a number of Leeds fans.

In fact, we’d go as far as to say it was the worst performance of the season from the normally dependable midfield dynamo.

He gave the ball away too many times, was caught in possession all too often, and he looked completely rattled by Charlton attacking midfielder Jonny Williams, who was the star of the show for the visiting side.

It’s not often we have to criticise Phillips – he’s normally the player pulling the strings and the glue that holds the rest of the side together.

Not on Saturday, though. One fan said, “I would never slag him because he has been great. However, when was the last time Phillips was that poor”.

Putting this in perspective, though, WhoScored awarded him a 6.8 rating for the game on Saturday, his lowest of the season, but still more than Jamie Shackleton (5.9) and Patrick Bamford (5.8).

We just expect a lot more from Phillips.

Here are some of the rare tweets you’ll find from Leeds fans criticising Phillips:
