‘Having a nightmare’, ‘Hideous to watch’: Some Leeds fans destroy star after ‘shocker’ v Cardiff
It didn’t take Leeds United long to get the fans on their back.
A nervy first half led to Leeds going in 1-0 down at half-time, with fans starting to implode on Twitter. And it got worse after 71 minutes as Cardiff got their game-winning second.
It was a massive missed opportunity after yesterday’s results.
Kalvin Phillips came in for a huge amount of stick for a horribly careless pass that led to the first goal from Junior Hoilett.
And Jack Harrison and Patrick Bamford took the brunt of the rest.
Bamford was desperately unlucky to block a shot from Harrison on the line at the end of the first half, but he was back to not looking like he was going to score. No matter how long the game went on for.
Harrison, meanwhile, had reverted back to the 18/19 version that delivered no end product for Leeds.
He was extremely frustrating on the left, with way too many wayward passes and aimless crosses getting the fans’ hackles up.
We need to be fair here. Harrison has been brilliant in 2020 and today’s game was always going to be tricky. Three months out and no pre-restart friendlies, mixed with a trip to Wales for an early Sunday kick-off wasn’t ideal.
And, while this was really poor, the good news is that there’s no real harm done, with Fulham losing and West Brom drawing.
However, it’s not the ideal preparation for a huge game against Fulham next Saturday.
