Leeds expert identifies the only mistake Daniel Farke made against Wolves

Leeds secured an impressive 3-1 victory over Wolves on Saturday, with Daniel Farke appearing to set his team up almost perfectly.

The Whites went behind to a Ladislav Krejci strike, but came back with three first-half goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach and Noah Okafor.

Wolves were deemed as the favourites to win this match and are an established Premier League team, but this was ultimately a comfortable and deserved victory for Farke’s side.

While Wolves did have some chances in the second half, Leeds could also have scored more.

The result means they have seven points from their opening five Premier League games and are well clear of the relegation places.

Leeds expert Graham Smyth outlines perfect performance from Daniel Farke

Farke has plenty of critics, including those among the Leeds fanbase. Some supporters wanted Farke replaced as Leeds boss before the season even kicked off.

There are rumours that Leeds are still making a contingency plan to replace Farke if the team’s form falls off a cliff.

However, his tactics and team selection couldn’t be criticised against Wolves. Every player did their bit to set up this important victory.

Graham Smyth, who covers Leeds for the Yorkshire Evening Post, said as much in his report of the match.

In a playful comment, he suggested that Farke’s only error was to start the match without a jacket, only to request one within five minutes of the match starting.

“A minute later, he added an overcoat. Going out into that weather two clubs shy was the only mistake he seemed to make,” Smyth pointed out.

There are plenty of reasons for Leeds and Daniel Farke to be optimistic for the remainder of the season

It has been a season of ups and downs already for Leeds.

The 5-0 hiding at Arsenal and the Carabao Cup exit to Sheffield Wednesday were a couple of low points, but Farke has evidently built a Leeds team that should be capable of competing in most Premier League games.

As things stand, Leeds should be praised for their recruitment.

Of course, it’s a long season, and there’s every chance that everything could fall apart, but it seems overly pessimistic to be talking about Farke’s potential replacement at this moment.

Leeds fans should instead focus on enjoying their team’s bright start to the season and perhaps even dare to look up the table rather than focusing on avoiding the bottom three.
