Lee Hendrie gushes over Wilfried Gnonto in Leeds United v Rotherham, ‘causing havoc’
Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto was “causing havoc” down the right wing for Daniel Farke’s side in their win over Rotherham United, according to Lee Hendrie.
The Whites stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine matches with an excellent 3-0 win over the Millers on Saturday (10 February) thanks to Patrick Bamford’s first half-strike and a brace from Crysencio Summerville.
Gnonto was unable to make it three goals in as many games but he did manage to impress Sky Sports pundit Hendrie, who described the Italian and his Leeds teammates as a “joy to watch” at Elland Road.
Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (10 February, 15:48) he said: “They’re an absolute joy to watch, they really are. Summerville is enjoying himself, Rutter is enjoying himself.
“This right-hand side for Leeds has been absolutely excellent, Archie Gray and Gnonto are literally causing havoc. This should be three, four or even five, They’ve definitely hit double figures on shots.”
Wilfried Gnonto will be key to Leeds United promotion push
It’s safe to say that the first half of the season was rather disappointing for Gnonto in a Leeds United shirt as the 20-year-old winger fell down Farke’s pecking order and saw himself replaced by Daniel James repeatedly in the German’s starting XI.
But over the last few weeks, the Italian has shown why he can be a real difference-maker in this division and potentially one of the Championship’s best players as he can be truly electric down either flank.

Gnonto’s performance on Saturday wasn’t quite as good as his display at Ashton Gate or Home Park, but he still seemed to lift the entire team and the crowd whenever he got on the ball. Defenders don’t know what to do when the Italian runs at them.
Hopefully, the winger will continue to cause havoc at Elland Road for the remainder of the season. If he maintains this form, he could well be like a new signing and define the promotion push in the Championship.
