Lee Bowyer says the same thing about both Leeds and Brentford after 1-1 draw at Griffin Park
Former Leeds United player Lee Bowyer did his former side a big favour beating Nottingham Forest last night.
And he added that the two teams at Griffin Park on Tuesday night are by far the best he’s come up against in the Championship this season.
Talking on the Jim White Show (talkSPORT, 10.40am), Bowyer said, “As a player I never really knew the Championship, a year at the end of my career, and it was quite tight then.
“But I told my players, I watched a lot of teams over the summer to prepare for who we were going to be playing… we’ve played all the teams now and if I’m going to be honest Leeds and Brentford are the two who have played us off the park, even though we managed to beat them.”
Bowyer could well be a future Leeds manager when Marcelo Bielsa moves on.
Talking on the Phil Hay Show (January 10, 1:00), the Athletic journalist said that Bowyer is someone the club is “very keen on”.

“So quickly, on replacements,” Hay said, “the name I keep hearing over and over again is Lee Bowyer of Charlton.
“They do seem very keen on him, I think it would be a case of timing and circumstances, depending on how well he was doing and who else was in the frame.”
Charlton enjoyed a brilliant result last night, beating Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, a result that left Leeds in second in the Championship.
However, Charlton are still struggling at the moment, in 19th place in the league.
We certainly wouldn’t blame Bowyer if he had one eye on the Leeds job.
