Ally McCoist has no worries about Leeds United in the Premier League despite a third defeat to nil in a row and has predicted two big wins against Newcastle and Leicester.
Leeds lost 1-0 to Brighton on Saturday after 3-0 losses to both Tottenham and Crawley.
It’s the worst run of results for Leeds since they were promoted and it led to another attack from talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor.
Talking on talkSPORT after the Brighton game he said, “I said teams will find them out and that’s what happened. They look tired and flat. I think Leeds need to rotate their team more.”
Ally McCoist was asked whether he agreed with Agbonlahor on the Breakfast show (talkSPORT, Monday,7.30am), with host Laura Woods saying, “We know how Gabby feels about Leeds.”
McCoist said, “No, I don’t think they’re tired, it’s just how they play the game.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if Leeds win the next two games 4-2 and 5-3, then lose 3-0. That’s just the way Leeds are.
“I genuinely think Leeds will be okay and they’ll continue in the fashion they are.
“They’ll entertain, win games, leave you bewildered with their defending at times… That’s just the way they are.”
McCoist is spot on
McCoist is one of our favourite pundits and he’s doing the business in the commentary booth for Amazon Prime, too.
The difference with McCoist is that he knows what he’s talking about and is one of the few talkSPORT pundits who don’t look to get reactions from shock judgements.
Agbonlahor has forged his newly-founded pundit career on the back of Leeds and he won’t give it a rest.
Laura Woods said his comments were “tongue in cheek” but that sounds like a get-out for views that don’t have much depth to them.
Sky Sports were doing a Gabby on Sunday, too, asking if the wheels were coming off Leeds.
The truth is, we’ve hit a bad patch in form but we’re still 12th in the league and only four or so wins from safety.
That was the only aim this season and we’re still not even halfway through the season.
Leeds will strengthen in the summer – in the meantime, we’ll have to navigate our way through snipes from Agbonlahor. They won’t stop coming for us and we won’t stop entertaining.”
